Integration of Metro Lines 4 and 5
Kapurbawadi Metro Station
Project Overview
The Kapurbawadi station represents a landmark achievement in Mumbai's metro infrastructure, being constructed as a three-legged four tracks portal station to facilitate seamless passenger interchange between Mumbai Metro Line-4 and Mumbai Metro Line-5 corridors.
This complex engineering project successfully addressed multiple challenges including structural design complexities, safeguarding various underground utilities including water trunk mains, and the construction/launching of Portal U/I Girders. All this was accomplished while maintaining traffic flow on the heavily trafficked Ghodbunder Road, which carries significant cargo traffic, and keeping the iconic Foot Over Bridge untouched.
The project's crowning achievement was the erection of 8 Precast Prestressed U girders, each measuring 16.00M x 5.25M x 1.850M and weighing 97.92 Metric Tonnes, for a total weight of 783.36 Metric Tonnes, all installed at a height of 14.00 meters in a single night operation completed on May 31, 2025, at 08:40 Hrs.
